You can’t cross a sea merely by standing and staring at the water. — Rabindranath Tagore
Hope your week started as good as mine. Last week I decided that getting on the scale to often is detrimental to weightloss – how? well.. if you don’t see any change you get depressed and when you get depressed you want to comfort yourself with stuff that is not bad for you but in larger quantities are worse than other things you could eat. So I’ve scaled, pun intended, back to only getting on it once a week and that would be today.
Thus I will not be saddened about what I weighed pre-cheatday since I don’t know what it was – and that is a good thing.
Cheatday? Have to give thanks to my wonderful wife who took me out to dinner at att restaurant in Stockholms Old Town-area called @19glas (19 glasses) – the owner is depicted here on the left @peterbennyson – they only serve a pre-determined menu every day so dinner consisted of Deepfried Rabbit with Aioli, Sallad on raddichio, blood orange and some oliveoil, braised shortribs and then a chocolate pot de creme. With excellent wines partnered with the dishes of course…
We then continued ‘home’ which in this case is @EriksVinbar (Eriks Winebar) where we had some nice cheeses and a couple of glasses of wine – good ones at that 🙂
Status: 97,9 kilos (215.4 LBS) and -74 cm (-28,7 IN) heading to #90kilos
So.. lost another 1.1 kilos this week – could be the fact that I’ve started to use a full PAGG-stack – we’ll see if it continues during this week. Thats a total loss of 20,8 kilos since we started in may 2012.

Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself. — Leo Tolstoy
Last week was a “no-report” week and this week isn’t.
Based on the numbers that I see this week I would’ve preferred it to be a no-report week but I shouldn’t be to bummed by it.
This weeks #cheatday meal was slowcarb. You see pasta to the left? Well.. yes, it is.. but it was made from soybeans and totally wheatfree – not the cheapest pasta I’ve ever bought but it could fool just about anyone with the ‘taste’ of pasta.
Apart from that we didn’t cheat much, except for wine & some cheese.
I think I made the right decision in not weighing in last week after our epic cheatweekend. Since this week it would seem, weight-wise, that I’ve been standing still.
I’ve had a week off from my supplements as well – it would seem that I get a rash from Alpha Lipoic Acid (a known, uncommon, sideeffect) but it took me about 6 months to develop it so I figured I’d just do without it for a week or so – we ordered a full “PAGG”-stack from the US that should be arriving today. Starting it tomorrow then…
Status: 99 kg (217,8 LBS) -72 cm (-28,1 IN) – heading to #90kilos
Weight at a standstill but I’ve lost another 2 centimeters in total. All change is good change!

No report
As I said last week – this week we’ll have no report on progress on weightloss since it’s a lot more likely that I’ve gained weight. A 48 hour #cheatday will do that to you. So now, and until next monday we’re in #slowcarb-mode with a slowcarb #cheatday-dinner, followed with some cheese on saturday. But otherwise we’ll keep it fully slowcarb this week to get back on the waggon after the passed weekend.
I’m not sad or upset that I’ve done this – since we planned it and knew that it would happen. It was an epic cruise with excellent food and even better wine – just the fact that I voluntarily ate snails says it all 🙂
Best wine this weekend? El Nido. Too bad it’s 100 euros a bottle in the duty free 😛
So… see you next monday, at latest, for a new report on how the weightloss is going – hopefully it’ll be lower than last monday…

There is nothing permanent except change.
Although it would seem that I’m permanently bouncing between 2 kilos of weight right now. The upside is that the centimeters/inches are moving to lower numbers at least.
This coming week, ie. next reportday will be silent. I’m guessing that my weight will have increased substantially by then. This weekend is my birthday and we’ll be taking a 40 hour long cruise to Helsinki, with this little boat (Silja Serenade) and back and all the while we’re having #cheatday (a seriously long one) and as such I KNOW that I’ll be gaining weight but hopefully, fingers crossed, I will be down to where I used to be by the week after.
Old Status: -19,7kilos (-43,3 LBS) and -70 centimeters (-27,1 IN)
New Status: 99 kilos, 9 kilos to go, heading for #90kilosSo basically I’ve been hovering between 98 & 99 for two weeks. Lost about 3 centimeters meanwhile. But, I have been “slacking off” and saying this much “non-slow-carb-ingridient” won’t do much difference and it would, in my humble opinion, seem that it does do a lot of difference.
I’m excercising on a semi-daily basis using my kettlebells and that seem do something for my posture at least – although I’ve not lost much weight. But as I said, I know why and this week – until the cheatday extravaganza starts on saturday afternoon and runs along until sunday night – I’m going to be stringent as **** and not step outside the box at all. The two glasses of wine that are allowed have been scrapped until friday! 🙂
Wish me luck.

You don’t drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Bad week, so bad that I don’t want to do a report – so I won’t be doing anymore reporting than the above comment. “Bad week”.
We kind of had a overpowered #cheatday saturday and it showed on the scale in a bad way so I’ll report the progress next week instead (no #cheatday this week since we’re going to have a “double” cheatday next week).
So by monday it should be fixed. What? The current ‘problem’ with weighing more than last week 🙂

Success is the sum of small efforts…
… repeated day in and day out.
I don’t know if I feel good about this week or not. I’ve been overdoing the workouts a bit so I got sore and now I’ll go back to three times a week 🙂
<— This weeks “super-indulgence” cheeze-doodles in a new version.
Otherwise cheatday was good with home-made schnitzel and mashed potatoes.
Old Status: -20,4 kilo (-44,9 LBS) -67 cm (-25,9 IN)
New Status: 98,3 kilos, -1 kilos since last week, heading for 90kg!Now if I could get my Withings scale to use monday as new week instead of saturday or wherever it is measuring – but withings support isn’t quick on answering how I do that. Today it claims that I’ve gained .4 kilos this week but I’m at “0” since pre-cheatday measurement is a bad thing to use 🙂
The centimeters/inches are bouncing a bit up and down, most likely due to working out. So, based on that fact I’d not be surprised if I actually, in some parts, gain some the coming weeks since my muscles will, hopefully, start replacing some fat.
Wish me luck,
Mattias

On Display – now when I’ve reached one of my goals.
I’m not comfortable showing off my face/body on photos but but here goes a wee bit at least 🙂 Why? Because I promised that I would tell you when I reached a goal…
When I started my 4 hour body diet I promised that when I hit my secondary goal – which was to get under a 100 kilos – I’d tell you the story of where I started losing weight and so on. As Tim would say – My Harajuku Moment.
The day has come. I’m officially under a 100 kilos and here goes.
Please note that this is not all due to 4 hour body, although, it is by far the diet that’s been easiest to follow. I’ll tell you when and where I started 4HB a bit further down.
My start day was May 1st 2005. (the image on ”before” is in february 2005 and I actually gained a few between then and the start day – also trying to hide my double chin – like it would make a difference).
Starting weight: 132 kilos (290 LBS).
That was my ”top” weight, and of course, a low point in self-esteem.
I got on the now discontinued, due to health reasons, diet pill called Reductil, together with smaller portions (i.e. if you cook according to recipe for 4 persons you can’t eat half of the cooked food and lose weight). At the same time I tried to quit smoking, which was another bad habit. Suffice to say my wife told me ”choose your battles” since I was not easy to live with on a diet and trying to quit smoking at the same time. So I chose to get myself down to below a 100 kilos before I quit smoking.
I did.. About a year later I ”dinged” 99,9 kilos and went to my doctor and asked for help to quit smoking. He put me on something called Zyban and two weeks later I was smoke free (although battling with some things for a few months – like wanting to light a cigarette every time the phone rang and so on).
Unfortunately. I replaced nicotine with candy and junkfood. So during a few years I went from the 99,9 to close to 119 kilos again.
In may 2012 my sister (thanks sis!) gave me a tip to check out 4 hour body by Tim Ferriss and the diet he had worked out. I read what I could find on the internet and then bought the book.
May 31st 2012 both me and my wife embarked on the 4 hour body lifestyle (with a break for vacation). I started at 118,7 kilos (261.1 LBS) and have until now gone down to 99,3 kilos (218,5 LBS). About a week after starting this journey the craving for sugar was more or less gone – no interest in candy anymore, apart from a piece of high-quality chocolate from time to time.
My primary goal is 90 kilos (198 LBS) BUT(!) I’ve already made it clear to myself that I can continue eating according to this diet for quite some time – if not indefinite – so.. after 90 kilos I’m going to make a run for my ”ideal” weight which would be, according to sources, below 86 kilo (189,2 LBS). It isn’t that far in between so why not try it, eh?
There you go.. the full monty so to speak.. Now, onwards towards 90 kilos. 9,3 kilos to go…
Wish me luck.

Discipline is remembering what you want.
I want to reach my goal so that’s what I will do, eventually.
So.. a full report once again. This is after all the holidays where I’ve been bouncing around like a yo-yo. Up and down, up and down… But nevertheless it’s heading in the right way, down…
This weeks best indulgence was this bottle of wine. Not cheap but we split it with some twitter-aquaintances and it was good.
Status: -19,4 kilos (-42,7 LBS) and -67 cm (-25,9 IN)
This puts me below one of my goals on a permanent basis and this means that my reports will change somewhat from now on. I’ve promised myself to start reporting what’s left rather than how far I’ve come. So from now on you’ll get this instead:
Status: 99,3 kilos (218,5 LBS) and -67 cm (-25,9 IN) – goal = 90 kilos. 9,3 kilos to go..
There will also be a post, this week, that gives you my background – where my start was (my “all time high” and a “before” picture) and so on.
The cheatday this week actually managed to add just above a kilo back but that’s ok, that’s what cheatdays are for 🙂

Lost and found..
I wrote a long post and managed to screw it up and lost the whole post.. *grmbl* and since I’m a bit too busy to repeat myself fully here’s the shortversion:
* Gained a few over the holidays which I thought I would, but I also hit “all time” low in the passed 20 years. Heading there again.
* Bought a Kettlebell and have been overdoing it a bit but wth, it’s there, might as well use it.
* Next ‘extended’ cheatday will be in a months time when me and my wife go to Helsinki for my birthday and spend 40 hrs on a bigass cruiseship.. but I’ll try not to overdo it.
* Next full measurement and weigh-in will be on monday when I hope to be over the next milestone. A milestone I have the aim to never go over again.
Status: -17,7 kilos (-38,9 LBS) – post-holidays and post-fatso-cheatday 🙂

Weirdnesses inbound…
Why? Because christmas is coming. Cheatday this coming week is the same day as weigh-in day. And since we’re going to be out of the house we can’t use the same scale. Thus, I either have to report to early, as in tomorrow saturday, or late as in wednesday when we get home again.
I’m leaning towards wednesday since I don’t want to claim victory over one of my goals pre-cheatday.
Yeh, I’ll report on wednesday instead of monday the coming 2 weeks. Because the week after we have an extended cheatday from new years eve until new years day. So weigh-in on december 26th and january 2nd. After that we’ll go back to the regular monday weigh-ins.
Wish me luck and have a merry christmas and a happy new year.
