Well.. even though I reached my primary goal of 90 kilos and below the coming celebrations of christmas and new years will push me over the limit again – and I don’t mind that either. When we did the last (and first) #whole30 I got rid of a lot of my problems. Since finishing I’ve concluded that I’m gluten-sensitive, not intolerant although I claim to be when talking to food industry people, and I also found out that my rosacea is most likely caused by ingesting dairy. If I don’t ingest dairy it basically goes away – eat some quantities of cheese and it’s back.
I still have some issues in the form of eczema and I want to find the reason, if it’s food related as I think it is. So my plan for the next #whole30 is to do it according to the autoimmune protocol and see if that gives me some hints as to what might be cause these problems.
Please note that a DietBet and a #Whole30 is in it’s relationship incompatible since the latter doesn’t allow you to weigh in during the process – but that is the one, and only, rule that we break during this DietBet/Whole30 combo – So in the grand scheme of things this isn’t the worst we can do. We will be weighing in two times a week.
If you are interested in Whole30 you can find info below, as well as on Whole9Life or, even better, buy the book It starts with food. Anyone is free to join in on my DietBet that will be starting January 3rd 2014 – the bet is $50 and you need to lose 4% of your bodyweight in 4 weeks (28 days). It’s a good start for 2014!!
DietBet is pioneering a whole new way to lose weight. We call it Social Dieting.
DietBets first product is a game called DietBet that transforms weight loss from a solitary chore into a fun community activity.
There’s money on the line but it isn’t about making money. It’s about believing in yourself, investing in your health, and sticking with your commitments.
It’s also about getting support. Although DietBets are competitions, they are never winner-take-all, so players end up helping each other. Your real world friends may not appreciate what you’re going through but your fellow dietbetters get it. That’s because they’re in it with you. They’ll inspire you and make you laugh. You’ll see the same message over and over: “You can do this.”
Losing weight is hard. But it’s so much easier when you’re in it together. Try social dieting and you’ll see for yourself. You’ll never go back to losing weight alone.
Certain food groups (like sugar, grains, dairy and legumes) could be having a negative impact on your health and fitness without you even realizing it. Are your energy levels inconsistent or non-existent? Do you have aches and pains that can’t be explained by over-use or injury? Are you having a hard time losing weight no matter how hard you try? Do you have some sort of condition (like skin issues, digestive ailments, seasonal allergies or fertility issues) that medication hasn’t helped? These symptoms may be directly related to the foods you eat – even the “healthy” stuff. So how do you know if (and how) these foods are affecting you?
Strip them from your diet completely. Cut out all the psychologically unhealthy, hormone-unbalancing, gut-disrupting, inflammatory food groups for a full 30 days. Let your body heal and recover from whatever effects those foods may be causing. Push the “reset” button with your metabolism, systemic inflammation, and the downstream effects of the food choices you’ve been making. Learn once and for all how the foods you’ve been eating are actually affecting your day to day life, and your long term health. The most important reason to keep reading?
This will change your life.
We cannot possibly put enough emphasis on this simple fact – the next 30 days will change your life. It will change the way you think about food, it will change your tastes, it will change your habits and your cravings. It could, quite possibly, change the emotional relationship you have with food, and with your body. It has the potential to change the way you eat for the rest of your life. We know this because we did it, and tens of thousands of people have done it since, and it changed our lives (and their lives) in a very permanent fashion.
